ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Thursday 28th July 2022

On the sea today a single Common Scoter, Fulmar, 4 Little Terns, 8 Sandwich and 7 Common Terns were recorded. An Avocet, 5 Whimbrel, 2 Black-tailed Godwits and a Greenshank were also of interest. A family of Stonechats was still on the east bank.

In the moth traps 11 Garden Tigers, 11 Setaceous Hebrew Characters, 2 Cloaked Minors, 7 Dingy Footmen, 2 Flame Shoulders, 2 Rosy Footmen, 31 Rustics, 8 Common Rustics, 6 Shuttle-shaped Darts, 5 Least Yellow Underwings, Lattied Heath, Cabbage, 2 Single Dotted Waves, 6 Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwings, Smoky Wainscot, Straw Dot, 4 Scarce Footmen, Uncertain, Least Carpet, 2 Yellow-tail, Ruby Tiger, Willow Beauty, 2 Shaded Broad-bars, a Sharp Angled Peacock, Spectacle, 4 Turnips, 2 Flounced Rustics, 3 Archer's Darts, Bright-line Brown-eye, Magpie Moth, Lesser Yellow Underwing, Tree-lichen Beauty and Small Waved Umber were among the catch.

Butterflies included Gatekeeper, Common Blue and Painted Lady.
