ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Sunday 21st August 2022

At least 2 Pied Flycatchers were still present in the pines showing well at times. Also of interest were 350 Golden Plover and 370+ Linnets over Thornham Harbour, 30 Black-tailed Godwits and a Greenshank on the Broadwater, 2 Arctic Skuas west, a Turtle Dove in the dunes, 2 Green and one Great Spotted Woodpeckers, a Hobby, 3 Willow Warblers, 5 Stonechats and 2 Yellow Wagtails.

In the moth traps 31 Flounced Rustics, 3 Flame Shoulders, 18 Vine's Rustics, 26 Small Square-spots, 10 Lesser Broad Bordered Yellow Underwings, a Lime-speck Pug, 9 Archer's Darts, 17 Setaceous Hebrew Characters, a Rush Veneer, Poplar Hawk Moth, 2 Chinese Characters, Brimstone, 2 Spectacles, 4 Turnips, 11 White-lined Darts, 2 Nutmegs, 3 Smoky Wainscots, 2 Common Wainscots, a Cabbage, 2 White Points, Cloaked Minor, 2 Ferns and a Humming-bird Hawk moth were seen.
