ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Sunday 28th August 2022

On the sea today 2 Eiders, 41 Common Scoter, 2 Little Terns, 60 Sandwich Terns, 30 Common Terns and 2 Arctic Terns were noted. Waders included 500+ Oystercatchers, 260+ Black-tailed Godwits, 40 Golden Plover, 68 Lapwings, 3 Whimbrel, 40 Curlew, Green Sandpiper, 2 Greenshank and a Snipe. A Marsh Tit was seen in the forestry and a Hobby was hunting, with 6 Chiffchaffs, 2 Willow Warblers, Lesser Whitethroat, 10+ Stonechats and 3 Yellow Wagtails also counted.

In the moth traps Shuttle-shaped Dart, 2 Single Dotted Waves, 9 Setaceous Hebrew Characters, 24 Flounced Rustics, 4 White-lined Darts, 2 Smoky Wainscots,3 Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwings, 7 Archer's Darts, Yellow Belle, Snout, 2 Rusty-dot Pearls, 2 Rush Veneers, 4 Vine's Rustics, Brimstone, 3 Small Square-spots, White Point, 3 Large Yellow Underwings, Square Spot Rustic, Gold Swift, Turnip and Chinese Characters were among the catch.
