ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Sunday 30th October 2022

Rain clearing during the afternoon produced some more common migrants. On the sea 10 Red-throated Divers, 20+ Gannets, 2 Great Crested Grebes, a Sandwich Tern and 5 Little Gulls were of interest and a Spoonbill flew past the Observatory heading west. The Cattle Egret was seen on the NWT reserve and a Kingfisher, 2 Water Rails, 3 Cetti's Warblers, a Chiffchaff, Blackcap, 3 Fieldfares, 35 Blackbirds, 12 Song Thrushes and 8 Redwings were also counted. A Redpoll, 3 Rock Pipits and 2 Bullfinches were also of interest. 

In the moth traps a Large Wainscot, 2 Rusty-dot Pearls, 2 White Points, a Silver Y and a Vine's Rustic were caught. A Humming-bird Hawk Moth was seen near the Observatory and a Red Admiral was still on the wing.
