ACCESS TO HOLME BIRD OBSERVATORY UPDATE

REPAIRS TO THE COASTAL FOOTPATH ARE COMPLETE AND FULL ACCESS IS RESTORED TO THE OBSERVATORY FROM THORNHAM. THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS AND VISITORS FOR THEIR CO-OPERATION.

Holme Bird Observatory Saturday 11th February 2023

At least one Firecrest was showing near the Observatory for much of the day, and on the sea 76 Eider, 800+ Common Scoter, 9  Red-breasted Mergansers, 3 Red-throated Divers, a Great Northern Diver, 2 Fulmars and a Black-necked Grebe were found. A Spoonbill was on the Broadwater and 9 Black-tailed Godwits were of interest. A Barn Owl was hunting near Thornham Sea Wall and a male Merlin was on the beach. The Cackling Goose was seen with a large flock of Pink-feet on marshes near the NWT entrance gate during the afternoon.
