Holme Bird Observatory 31st July 2019

The biggest surprise today was a Fieldfare in the pines behind the Observatory. More expected were a Great White Egret on the Grazing Marsh, Green Sandpiper in front of the NWT hides and two Wood and two Green Sandpipers on Redwell Marsh.

South Westerly winds, at the end of July, and just what you'd expect, a Fieldfare !

Migrant Hawker staying down low out of the wind.

HEMPTON MARSH MOTH DAY SATURDAY 20TH JULY

Our moth day at Hempton Marsh is taking place as planned. Come and join us as we empty the traps on the marsh at 10 am. It may be a wet morning, but we hope to have plenty of moths on display!

We are not expecting to be able to give a ringing demonstration on Saturday due to rain, but if conditions improve we will go ahead with this also.

See you there!
